Medical notes in WIT (Inactive)

About

Below you will find the links to some of the notes that I did many years ago when I was studying for the anaesthetics Primary Exam for ANZCA.

These notes was done in mostly two instalments. The first was when I was studying for the Physiology Primary exam for ANZCA in 2005. The second was when I was studying for the Pharmacology Primary exam for ANZCA in 2007.

I am ashamed to say that the notes are far from complete. It has far too much information on some topics, and totally lacking on others. I have wanted to go back and tidy things up, but unfortunately that hasn't happened yet.

At the moment I am NOT planning to update these notes in the near future. I would love to continue updating these notes, but at the moment I have hit a major roadblock as there are no suitable software that runs natively on a Mac (see below).

Links

For now, I have included these notes here for archival purposes.

Alternatively, you can download the same notes in this zip file (approx 2.4 MB in size).

I cannot emphasise this enough - Use at your own risks!!

Software

This set of notes were done in WebIdeaTree (WIT) under Windows. It was very good for my purpose at the time, but after I switched to Mac in 2008, I found it very difficult to continue on with the project, as there are/were no similar softwares on a Mac.

It really was the only thing that I miss after switching from Windows.

My requirements are:

  • Easy to edit / create / search notes
  • Easy to back up
  • Portable storage format
    • i.e. No lock-ins
    • Preferably uses plain text with support for markdown or similar
  • (Optional) Ability to embed tables and figures
  • Static website generation
    • Centralised styling (e.g. via a CSS)
    • Generation of index, table of content, and tags (all clickable)

Voodoopad comes close, but it fails on the last point. Also it is at risk of being abandoned after recent change in management.

If you have any suggestions re a suitable software that runs natively on a Mac, please let me know. Thank you.
