Boundaries of the epidural space

• Superior:
  --> Fusion of spinal and periosteal layers of dura mater at the foramen magnum
• Inferior:
  --> Sacrococcygeal membrane
• Anterior:
  --> Posterior longitudinal ligment, vertebral bodies, and discs
• Posterior:
  --> Ligmentum flavum, capsule of facet joints and laminae
• Lateral:
  --> Pedicles and intervertebral foraminae

Spinal cord

• Spinal cord ends about L1 or L2
• Dural sac ends at lower border of S2
