Corynebacteria

Common properties

  • Small, pleomorphic, gram-positive rods
  • Stains unevenly
  • Do not form spores
  • Nonmotile, unencapsulated.
  • Forms characteristic clumps like chinese characters or picket fence patterns
  • Most are facultative anaerobes
  • Cultured on blood agar
